Katie Cicatelli-Kuc (Chickatelli-Koots) is a writer, editor, and content consultant.
Katie spent over a decade working for children’s books publishers as an in-house copy editor and production editor before becoming a full-time writer.
Katie is the author of four young adult novels, an assorted collection of books for young readers, and several published nonfiction pieces for adults. Her newest young adult novel, Mint to Be, goes on sale October 7, 2025 and is available for pre-order.
Born in the Midwest and raised in the Midwest and Florida, Katie now lives in a yellow house next to a mountain in New York’s Hudson Valley with her family and their animals.

When Katie was in fourth grade, she named her first cat Ramona, after the Beverly Cleary Ramona books.

When Katie worked at Random House, she went to Mary Pope Osborne’s house (magical!) and sat in the same theater as Judy Blume during a screening of Tiger Eyes.

Katie and her mom have each other’s half birthdays! Katie was born the first day of winter, and her mom the first day of summer.
